Due to the dive-bomber way brown pelicans fish, they are not known for their grace. Because they lack grace, people assume they are not too bright.

This pelican proves he’s pretty intelligent, considering he’s managed to hitch a ride with a crab fisherman who’s unaware of his presence. That makes him first in line at the dinner table — all while expending no effort. I have an uncle like that.
